Rigamaroll

You ever notice how when things are going to go awry they will do so at the most inopportune time?

I've been house-sitting for my Mom and Dad while they've been visiting my sister in Saskatchewan. They have a little black cat named Gypsy whose been getting lonelier and lonelier the longer my parents have been away. As soon as I open the door, Gypsy comes running and meowing to me. Hee-hee!

Yesterday, I was really busy and didn't head out to my parent's until about 8:00pm. I climbed into my car, but when I tried to start it, nothing happened. Great. Mike's gone, my parents are gone, and I know NOTHING about cars.

The clouds were gathering and I knew I had to bike over to my Mom and Dad's for their little cat. But I really, really, didn't want to bike over given the impending doom that was happening overhead. I pedaled on over and the rain held off. Spent some time with Gypsy and then at 9:00pm, I heard rain start to fall. SHIT! Not again!

I've biked more in the rain this year than in my entire life!

Made it home and arranged to have the mechanic look at my car this morning. Called the local tow truck dude (I have CAA) to arrange for him to take my car over in the morning. Verdict? Everything was hunky dory -- I just needed a new battery. If my Dad or Mike were here, they would have taken care of it, but I ain't no Daddy or boyfriend, and I don't have a clue - so I'm just happy my car is working again.

I gave my mechanic an $8.00 tip and he told me, "You gave me too much money." I told him it was a tip and I appreciated him taking care of my car so quickly -- besides I'd rather tip my mechanic than some putz waiter/waitress. I do the same for my hairdresser -- tip the people who really SHOULD be tipped! Anyways, my mechanic was surprised and grateful, and said he doesn't get tips very often. :)

I have today off, and then tomorrow I head up to Calgary for the race. I'm pretty much packed and ready to go! Can't wait to see a lot of you all! :) :)

Good luck this weekend! And I'd have no idea what to do if my car didn't start either. Someone else would have to look at it for sure.

Jeepers. If we lived in the same town, I would have just sent my husband over (he loves it when I do that...) and he could fix it for you...
See you tomorrow!!
