So, umm, that is why my foot hurts...

Just came back from my doc...

X-rays showed I broke my foot in two places: One big, bad-ass, nasty mofo of a break when I was in Australia (some healing has taken place there) and a stress fracture across one of those metatarsal thingies.

Bone breaks mean I will heal up good as new! So, I am in an "Air Walker" right now.

I know this sounds odd, but I was so relieved and laughing and giggly once I found out. I mean, you should see the size of the break that I did when I was in Australia, and I did two frigging Ironman races this year on it!

I can only imagine how great I'll feel after I actually let myself heal this time! LOL!!!!!

(And yes, I have learned a valuable lesson yet again -- when my coach tells me over and over again to go the doc to get my foot checked out, I WILL LISTEN. I was so stubborn in Australia -- I kept saying, "Nothing's wrong -- nothing's broken. It's just bruised -- I mean I fell on it really hard; of course it's swollen. If I broke it, I would know...." Umm, yeah. My face is red. Sorry, coach. Eeeeeeeeeep.

Hmmm. I seem to remember someone else saying that the arm was ok, nothing was broken, it's just bruised because I fell off my bike. No big deal. Maybe both of us will listen next time!!!

Rest it up. Hang out at the house. Boot Mike off the computer and play internet games. NOT the Wii hula hoop game! Chat with your (many, many, MANY) fans on facebook. Sleep in, or outright hibernate. Catchup on your reading, ok I guess tri reading is ok.

Damn, sorry to hear that Julie. But like you said, it's nice to know the reason of the pain. Nothing drives me crazy more than when you have a definitely problem(something preventing you from training) and the doc can't find anything. Same with your car, have you ever done that? Brought your car into the garage and you can't repeat the problem? The mechanic thinks you're crazy. Anyways, take care Julie, heal up babe.

That's SOO great that you know what it is and that it's easily fixable!! (well, with a little time anyway!)

I can't wait to see what you do when you're all healed up!

MMMM....if it were me I would totally use this as an excuse to get fat and lazy ;)

You cant just rub some dirt on it and make it better, thats what momma always said

Seriously, I am glad you are ok

Whats a Air Walker?

Aww, I am sorry to hear that Julie! Sending healing vibes your way :) I was on the phone with Rachel and she told me about your foot <3 I hope I can still see you at swim camp!!!

Big Daddy -- it's an air cast. It looks like a big Sorel winter boot. That has been cut open down the middle. It's all padded and puffy on the inside and has all these velcro straps across it.

You put your foot in, tighten the straps and PRESTO! Good to go. Seriously, I can't beleive how awesome this air cast thing is. I hobbled all across the US (driving back from Wilmington, NC) and this thing is like a miracle. I can actually walk without (too much) pain!

Sarah -- Thanks for your healing vibes, girl! :)
