BALLS OF FURY!

These are my new favourite long ride food......I call them BALLS OF FURY! When I talk about them, I talk about them in capital letters as well. Hahahahaha!!

Very, very easy to make: Take a whack of dates and a bunch of shredded coconut put in blender. Form into balls. Finito! I freeze the bunch and take out what I need and then wrap them individually in saran wrap for rides. You can fit a lot in a bento box and even more in your jersey pockets. :)

I still like the occasional almond butter and jelly sandwich, but lately I've been passing over the sandwiches in favour of the date balls.

On Saturday, I was on the Road to Nepal for 5 hours and every time I ate a ball, I imagined this deep voice saying, "BALLS OF FURY!"

And yes, it takes very little to amuse me/occupy my mind on long rides...

That was me! With a megaphone, stalking you. No, not really, but I was thinking about you and your crew, back and forth, up and down, especially, UP and DOWN.

Actually, on that ride, you only need to occupy your mind half the time. Looking up, wondering when this hill will end, you need to occupy your mind. On the other hand, during the descents you need all mental sharpness you can muster. It's easy to get over 80 Kph on some of those hills, and the winds can be tricky.

I'll have to try making those balls of fury. Along with the Peanut Butter Powerballs you gave me the recipie for.

Oh, and how do you unwrap the saran wrap while riding? I'm trying to picture unwrapping, eating the powerball and not the saran wrap, and ending up with the saran wrap in a pocket.

And for your American readers, the word verification is aboot!!!! I'm not kidding. hahahaha

Susi, the goddess of everything wholesome and natural was the source of these balls. I am a shameless plagiarist -- I often forget who/what I learned from and adopt it as my own! Hee-hee!

Keith -- unwrapping the balls takes a little tooth and lip action...I start unwrapping with one hand and then get my mouth on a piece of saran wrap to work it off while I pedal. Then, when I've worked it off, I gently chew the saran wrap into a ball, and then put it in my jersey pocket. This negates any accidents with me trying to negotiate climbing whilst contending with a flapping piece of saran wrap. :)

I bow before the master. (bows, waves rose petals.) I couldn't conceive of doing anything so acrobatic with my mouth while riding. It was all I could do to open a Clifs bar and eat that. If I tried it your way I'm sure I'd swallow the saran wrap.

I love it, I am going to try this. Its amazing how simple some of these recipes are, and to think I would go spend 2.50 a bar before

If you for some odd reason you are in Ohio, you are welcome to ride with us, we can lend you a demo bike and you can get in some riding with our team.

Big Daddy -- You never know where life takes us....if I ever do go to Ohio, you bet I will take you up on your offer!!! It would be such an awesome experience to ride with a group! Or should I say, ROLL with the group? Hee-hee!!
