Some more tidbits...

The last few days....

  • A wild Australian turkey attacked my plastic shopping bag of clothes on the beach....then came back and did it again when my back was turned...
  • I SAW 4 KANGAROOS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
  • I swam a 1:40 in the long course pool -- Sara said in the 25m pool I will go faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I learned why you don't go barreling into the surf with the surf rescue squad without learning where the sand holes are....(Check out Rachel's blog for a picture of the ripped Aussie in speedos who helped me out -- even older dudes are ripped here!!)

Yes, it hurts like a mother $ucker. LMAO!! Ice and a 5 hour ride did me good today. :)

  • My tri buddy (and triathlon rockstar) Rachel did our hair up all fancy for an impromptu "Coaches Appreciation Night" last night. We both ended up in tears after giving our little speeches -- what can I say, Clint and Sara are the most generous and knowledgeable and frigging wonderful coaches out there!!!!

You see, the excitement was to come later on when we took the little knots out so we could have "Going Out" hair.... We never went out -- hey we have full training schedules! LOL!!

  • We had an 80s flash back powwow in my room after dinner. Rachel and I took our pony tails out and Rachel broke out her LEOPARD PRINT knee warmers and headband. HAHAHAHAHAHAH!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

The 80s RULE!!!!!

  • The most eaten foods here the last three weeks? Bananas, yogourt, almond butter/peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.....

I miss Australia already......March 29 I'll be home.

OUCH!! That bruise looks nasty! And the pic of the dude in the speedo is great! Yeah...I remember, everyone was fit and tanned and healthy down under!

I have to admit, you look very Aussie in that photo. And ouch on the ankle!

Only you could have your stuff attacked by the wild and dangerous predatory turkey.

Hey Julie, thanks for sharing your experiences down in Australia. It provides a fresh reprieve from my hectic work.

Sorry about the bruise.

Hey Aussie chick, you look great! A bit of sun doesn't do any harm at all hey - well, as you long as you don't go and get burnt an' all! haha! You'll be whizzing through the water in no time - get you! I know you'll miss Aus, but we'll try and make your return journey home as painless as possible - the sun's shining and it hit 13 degrees yesterday, so not as cold as it COULD be :) xxx

PS keep icing that foot - arnica does a grand job of bringing the bruising out too :)

PS my word for today is SHING - I think that's kinda cool :)

It is just the way you roll Jules - taking a big bite out of life when ever you can, drinking up the expereinces around you laughing and smiling the entire way!!! Ouch - the foot looks sore but we all know the magic of a speedo ... lol.. honestly - you twisted it on purpose didn't you? Wanted a closer look at the speedo?? LOL

My ankle is fine -- it is the top of the foot that is bruised -- LOL!! How did I do it? Well, I went running into the surf like a banshee and fell in slow motion in a hole and somehow rolled my foot so it landed on top of the foot...My ankle is completely fine! LOL!!

Just so you know there are a few "ripped older dudes" here in Canada but if you ever see one in a speedo hand him a towel and tell him to cover that shit up!

Youch!!! So that's the trick to getting a hot guy in a speedo (or a budgee smuggler as it is down there) to be very attentive to one's feet. I see...

Holy crap, that ankle hurts just looking at it! Take care of it. Dang, brings back nightmares for me.

Sounds like a killer good time, tho.

Hey Julie - it sounds like a parent when their child speaks their first words, hahahahahaha!

Can't wait to see you - have a GREAT last couple of days and really safe trip home xxxxxxxxxxx

I'll bet you won't have any trouble at all curling up and snoozing all the way home. You might want to put a yellow sticky on your head, "please wake me up in Calgary."

Very tired -- foot is fine, no fracture just bruised -- just like I thought but a professional opinion was called upon just to make sure.

I wrapped up the last day of training here with a killer (for me!) hill and sprints workout, water running lessons, and then a swim.

Green chicken curry at the surf club tonight I think! :)

Your hair is adorable - you do look like an Aussie. Love hearing about your trip (minus the spill in the ocean). Sounds like a fabulous trip!
