Another Sunny Day!

After the snow squall that blew in Sunday, the sun came out in full force yesterday, and melted it all. All the snow/slush/dirt makes this the messiest time of year for dog-walking. Muddy slush gets kicked up onto their bellies, so when they lie down on the floor afterwards, they leave a mud body "footprint." The joys of living with doggies!!

Yesterday, I swam for 70 min: warm up, drills, then for my main set: 3x600 with 60 sec rest. I finished up with some of my do-it-yourself breast stroke! Hey, I must be doing something right, because I get to one end of the pool and back just fine! :) :)

In the afternoon, I went for a 4.72 mile run -- it felt so great!! I think I might be turning into Forest Gump or something -- I just want to run all the time this year. Yesterday was also the first day of my new core routine. I've been following a Runner's World core routine for the last month. The first part of the program calls for 4 weeks of planks, side planks, etc. Now, for the next three weeks I am in the "dynamic phase"! Hell ya baby, I am a regular dynamo now!!! :):) :)

I also have this secret burning desire to do a chin-up -- I have NEVER done a chin-up in my life! SO, yesterday I managed to pull myself so my elbows were bent at a 45 degree angle. hahahaha! Every day I am going to try it -- when I finally do one I am going to throw a party!!! Then of course, the plan will be do to 2 chin-ups.

Today looks like it is going to be another beautiful day. :)

Can i come to your chin up party? I have never done one either ... no matter how much i grunt, my lower half outweights the strenth of my upper body.....lol

So, you are doing GWN half this year right? It will be so great to meet all these bloogers :) I love the comment you put on Chuck's blog about being a streamlined submarine (that is a lot of pressure for me as I am the one teaching him how to swim....lol Actually he is making progress and I expect that he'll be a pretty good little swimmer - by the time he comes out to cheer me on at IMC, I am going to suggest he go sign up for IMC 2009 and really make use of his sexy bike and his new swimming abilities :) Have a great day!!

I've been thinking for weeks about adding better core workouts. The Runner World one looks great! Thanks for the great tip!

great tips all round hey Julie, hoping I can steal it when I come over to Canada in less than 3 weeks - yay! I'm secretly hoping you won't do your chin up until 15 march cos then we can come to your party too!

I was very excited on my training today - did 10 x 400 before work, the first 3 of which are swim only - I knocked 10 seconds off my best, and last time knocked 5 seconds, so I danced my way to work feeling really chuffed with myself! Also, bought myself a new pair of trainers today too - hoping they'll make me run like you! x

A chin up. hmmmmm. I haven't tried to do one for a long time, same issue as Jenna.

A chin up party. Sounds like a great excuse to me.
